Kathie Olivas is one of those artists that when you first see her work, you say: "oh, this is exactly what i'd like to be drawing (or the toys i'd like to be designing)"... which is not to say one shouldn't have a style of our own, but only means that artists such as Kathie have a great inspirational effect on one's work... even before knowing KO exists. same happened to me with DoktorA and his mechtorians characters. i think both Kathie and DoktorA also share elements in common with Tim Burton and Dr. Seuss.

oh i love mechtorians too! i wish i own one. maybe soon.
Kathie Olivas, DoktorA, Tim Burton, Dr. Seuss... they all have already established their own style. and not only do they have a style. they have a concept behind the aesthetics. simply put, their art has depth. and i guess that's what makes them the envy of their fellow artists.

i'm still very, very clumsy and unefficient at using deviantART and Flickr as sharing and promotion tools, but i guess i'll get the hang of it sooner or later, if i just keep posting and sharing.
